Joint Statement of Principles in Support of International Education from the U.S. Department of State
The U.S. Department of State has published an unprecedented statement in which they strongly commit to international education – for Americans to go abroad and for foreign students, researchers, scholars and educators to come to the U.S.A. universities.
In spring and summer 2021 many Danes trying to get their visa interviews at the American consulate in Copenhagen have experienced severe problems with this, not only causing stress to everyone but at times simply making it impossible to start their academic programs in a timely manner. This post COVID-19 fall-out is most unfortunate and has not only caused problems in Denmark, but also in many other countries.
With this in mind, it is even more heartening to read this strong commitment to international education and broader understanding of the importance of international education and cultural exchange from the top leadership in Washington D.C.
