The Fulbright Program future – Fulbright Denmark, Academic Year 2020-21
We have just now been notified by the Assistant Secretary, U.S. Department of State/Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board that the Fulbright program worldwide will be suspended until the spring semester 2021 for most grant categories in the Fulbright program: A few special programs are still open and a few grantees who have been admitted for a full degree may be able to start in fall 2020 if the universities are open (or even on-line if offered as only option). All non-degree and research applications must start in spring 2021.
We are presently working directly with each applicant (Danes), or coming Fulbright grantee (Americans), to secure the best possible outcome of this.
This is what we know for now for AY 2020-21
US Fulbright Students and Scholars to Denmark have been selected and notified. They are presently on hold with the many details of their planning, but we will be working with each of them on how to accommodate their plans knowing that we are looking at spring semester 2021 for most, and that this therefore will mean a shorter grant period than first planned and therefore also a reduction in grant size.
Danish students and scholars going to the U.S.A. as Fulbrighters have now been selected and are all informed of the selections. Together with each of them and their American institutions, the Fulbright Denmark staff is working on making their Fulbright stay in the U.S.A. happen in the very best way possible following the new COVID-19 spring schedule.
The Fulbright Arctic Initiative III: The deadline for applications from Greenland, Faroe Islands and Denmark for this program has been moved to September 15 , 2020.
The Fulbright Denmark staff has been back in the Fulbright Denmark secretariat in Nørregade 7A, Copenhagen since April 14. We are not open for meetings, walk-ins or individual in-person advising. But we are here to answer your questions. You can contact us by phone or e-mail.
Please note, that this message will be updated on an ongoing basis, as soon as we learn more.
