Apply for a Fulbright grant for scholars

As a Danish grant applicant you apply for a Fulbright Denmark grant for Danish scholars through the U.S. Institute of International Education’s online portal Slate, which is used for Fulbright programs worldwide. Please familiarize yourself with the requirements and instructions that apply to Danish applicants before applying (not all sections are relevant for Danish applicants).

Country-specific instructions

Deadline: Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at 12:00 (noon) for the Fall semester 2024 and Spring semester 2025. 

For both the Visiting Scholar and the Postdoc Visiting Scholar grants, the category ‘Teaching/Research’ should be selected in the online application portal.

You must upload the following documents in English to your online application:

  • CV (max. four pages)
  • Cover sheet (download, save and fill out)
  • Budget Form (download, save and fill out)
  • Project Proposal (three to five pages) + Bibliography (one to three pages)
  • Course Syllabi (max. ten pages)
  • Two recommendations (must be uploaded by the recommender by the deadline)
  • Official Letter of Affiliation/Invitation from the U.S. university
  • Copy of your Passport ID Page
  • Documentation from Danish home university confirming academic and financial support during the stay in the U.S. (This is not a requirement for applicants to the Postdoc Visiting Scholar grant)
  • Data Protection Notice and Consent Form (GDPR) (download, save and sign)

Prospective Fulbright participants should be aware that public health conditions, availability of consular services and travel, as well as U.S. institutional operating status and policies may affect their ability to travel to the U.S. and participate in academic programs.
