Before the visit

The Fulbright Scholar identifies a higher education institution in the Kingdom of Denmark.

Alternatively, the host institution in the Kingdom of Denmark initiates contact with the Fulbright Scholar. If the host institution does not have a specific scholar in mind, they can identify a suitable person from the database of U.S. Fulbright scholars in Europe for the current academic year. The Finnish Fulbright Commission maintains an updated list of the Current US Fulbright Scholars in eligible countries.

The Fulbright Scholar and host institution get in touch and agree on dates, content and logistics of the visit. The host institution must confirm their willingness to cover in-country expenses.

The Application

The application is a collaborative effort between the Fulbright Scholar and host institution. Please download the application form in the box on the right.

We require that the Fulbright Scholar asks the Fulbright Commission in their host country for approval of the travel plans under an Inter-Country Travel Grant. If the commission has any questions, please refer them to advising@fulbright.dk.

After the application

The Fulbright Scholar and host institution will receive an email from Fulbright Denmark with the result of the application. If accepted, the Fulbright Scholar will be asked to purchase train/flights and share the receipts of these. The costs will be then be reimbursed to the Fulbright Scholar after the visit is completed.

Fulbright Denmark may reach out to the host institution after the visit to evaluate its success.

Fulbright Denmark is based on a bi-national treaty from 1951. It is publicly funded by the Danish and the American states. Fulbright Denmark offers grants to both Danes to the U.S.A. and Americans to Denmark.
