American Fulbright Student, David Vizgan, who studied at the Technical University of Denmark in 2021-22, has just been honored with being a Fulbright Alumni Ambassador

During his Fulbright U.S. Student Study/Research program, David Vizgan conducted extensive research with Cosmic Dawn Center (DAWN) at the Technical University of Denmark. His research aimed to investigate the correlation between ionized carbon and physical properties in a large sample of simulated galaxies with luminosity distances of over 13 billion light years. Throughout his Fulbright tenure, David Vizgan successfully published two first-author papers on his research, with one being a culmination of his undergraduate thesis at Wesleyan University, while the other was on research he started and completed in Denmark. Furthermore, a third paper based on his research at DAWN was accepted for publication at the start of his Ph.D. studies.

Fulbright U.S. Student Alumni Ambassador Program: Representing Diversity and Increasing Mutual Understanding

The Fulbright U.S. Student Alumni Ambassador Program was established in the year 2008 with the aim of identifying, training, and engaging a selected group of approximately 20 Fulbright U.S. Student Program alumni each year to act as representatives, recruiters, and voices for the Fulbright Program. The annual selection of Fulbright Alumni Ambassadors is made through recommendations from Fulbright Commissions, U.S. Embassy staff, area managers, the Fulbright Student Program Outreach Division, and is approved by the sponsor of the Fulbright Program, the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Ambassadors like David represent an array of different ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds, states, fields of study, and institutions, having participated in the Fulbright U.S. Student Program in all world areas.

Fulbright Alumni Ambassadors are vital in increasing awareness about Fulbright opportunities and they play a key role in representing the program’s rich diversity. They provide testimonials about their Fulbright experiences at conferences and campus presentations and offer application tips in written articles, video and podcast interviews, webinars, and special events throughout the United States. The Fulbright U.S. Student Program depends on Fulbright Alumni Ambassadors to assist potential applicants by sharing their firsthand knowledge and experience of living abroad, overcoming the challenges of cultural differences, and achieving the Fulbright Program‘s ultimate goal of increasing mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.
